What‘s a slope? Where did the beach slipper come from? Why is there an oriental bar in the volcano?
As part of the “A-Z” series, Andrzej Tobis takes photos in Poland and assigns them to subsequent entries in a German-Polish dictionary from 1954. Many of these photographs depict strange or non-obvious situations. During the meeting you will be able to ask the artist questions and learn the secrets of the “A-Z” cycle. We encourage you to browse the works from the series (e. g. those available on the Zachęta website or those collected on the artist’s Instagram @andrzej. tobis) and to ask questions about specific photographs and their contexts.
We also encourage you to submit questions in advance via the submission form – this will help moderate the meeting.
