Although photo collections can be found in almost every home, carefully stored in albums and on discs, not everyone who cares about them can be called a collector. What is a photo collection? Can you only collect art photos? What selection criteria do private collectors use, and what images should be in public collections? To participate in the debate we invited people who are in various ways connected with the photography market in Poland.
The debate “What makes a collection?” is a prelude to the main exhibition “What makes a photo?” which will soon (in the first quarter of 2022) be presented in MuFo Rakowicka. At the Museum of Photography we want not only to show photographs, but together with specialists and our audience to think about what images are worth presenting today and what motivations accompany the creation of a collection.
Due to the pandemic, the number of places for listeners of the debate in MuFo Rakowicka will be limited, and all people interested in participation are requested to book their places in advance. The online booking system will be available on Tuesday, 30. 11 on our website. The participants of the debate are obliged to observe a sanitary regime – to keep a distance and to cover their mouths and noses.
The debate will be streamed online on MuFo’s Facebook profile.
