Andrzej Tobis’ painting, Drugi Karbon (2014), will be one of the works featured in the exhibition that are to give the the experience of a ‘profound time’. ‘Showing different aspects od undergrounds, especially those connected with coal mining, will – as we hope – help to encourage self-reflection upon the particular background of the region: its richness in natural resources, which has been core to the region’s identity for decades, and now the problems the region is facing due to long-term effects of exploitation’, we read in the description of the exhibition.
The exhibition was prepared jointly by the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice and the University of Silesia.
