Photographic evidence, video recordings and survivors’ accounts gathered in A Piece of Land revive from seemingly innocent places. In this audiovisual installation Andrzej Kramarz connects visuality and sound to create relations with a human witness, the sites and the tragic events of World War II, to focus our attention on human emotional relationships with the surrounding world. The photos are accompanied by recordings – the witnesses’ personal stories and thoughts bring light to how deeply the phenomenon of forgetting is located in human memory. The audience is invited to reflect on this subject through a context of historical truth.
