Opening: 01.01.2023, 18.00–21.00
Exhibition: 02.02–30.07.2023
Place: Muzeum Woli, Srebrna 12, Warsaw
The first ever exhibition devoted to Kim Lee, Warsaw’s most famous drag queen, will feature the photographs of Rafał Milach from the
‘Ba Lan’ cycle
Andy Nguyen (Kim Lee) was a prominent artist, exceptionally connected with Warsaw. “Kim Lee’s story is also about the sense of belongingness to two groups: the Vietnamese minority in Warsaw and to the LGBTQ+ community”, we read in the description of the exhibition. Rafał Milach’s cycle ‘Ba Lan’, from the years 2005–2008, zooms on life of the first group mentioned. The cycle’s main character is Linh, who the artist accompanies and whose life he photographs for almost three years. Photographs from the ‘Ba Lan’ cycle have been added to the Museum of Warsaw’s collection in December 2022.
The exhibition will be followed by a rich program of events including, for instance: film screenings, lectures, discussions or voguing workshops.
The exhibition is curated by Magdalena Staroszczyk.
