In my latest project entitled the Act, which I have been working on since 2015, I explore and name my “private heritage.” Both the primal, biological one and that I have been given by the outside world. It is a tale about a rebirth, and sometimes a cruel modern fairytale evoking primary memories that reach to the essence of humanity. By reducing and simplifying the images, I create a universal story, bringing in my own personal experiences. This allows me to build a meta-fairytale that describes man in relation to the surrounding reality, both the archetypal one and the personal, individualised one. As in my previous project and the photographic book Tomek Tyndyk Theater, I investigate whether creativity can become a form of self-portrait that evolves over time. And whether the message that flows from creative work can get beyond individual experiences and become a timeless, even mythical story.
