In her art, Buczkowska explores topics related to the integration of trauma and taming what is repressed (One Year in a Sanatorium or Health Resort), reaching to the human behaviours that are hidden in the subconscious mind. Her works are distinguishable for a perfect painting and graphic technique, as well as unique and original use of colour luminosity.
Born in 1971 in Warsaw, she graduated from the Department of Sculpture and Restoration of Works of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Gender Studies at the University of Warsaw, and the Villa Arson Art Center in Nice. In her artistic practice, she mainly uses painting, sculpture, graphics, photography, and drawing. Her numerous grants and awards include: Biennale Lorne Sculpture, Australia (2011), Pro Helvetia CRIC Sierre Center, Switzerland (2011), Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant (2010). Her art has been widely exhibited in Poland and worldwide and can be found in the collections of Fundacja Sztuki Polskiej ING, PKO S.A., Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten in Marl (Germany), MoBY Museum in Tel Aviv (Israel), Villa Arson in Nice (France).
